In Loving Memory Of
Charter Member Lion Winford Eugene Odom
December 13, 1925 - October 11, 2010

Lion Winford Eugene Odom was born December 13, 1926 to Guy and Gladys Roberson Odom. He attended Old Smyrna Rock School and was drafted into the United States Army during WWII just before finishing high school. He returned to the United States after the war and completed high school education. Lion Eugene worked for Mr. W.E. Carter at the Smyrna Water Department. He later retired with 35 years of service with the Smyrna Utilities Department. Lion Eugene played basketball and also coached the men's First Baptist Church softball team. Lion Eugene married Ms. Frances Mae Davis Welch on December 5th, 1981
Lion Eugene joined the Smyrna Lions Club as one of 68 charter members on January 10, 1949. He served as club president during the 1981-1982 club year. Lion Eugene has served the Smyrna Lions Club in many ways over the past 60 years, and worked on almost every project in some capacity. He helped the Smyrna Lions Club meet our $50,000 commitment to Kids Sight by working Titan's games concession stand, and also helped with the annual VA Carnival, Sight Run, Pecan Sales, and Sweetheart Dance. Lion Eugene also filled a much needed position in our club as our Lion Tamer. Lion Eugene's service to the Smyrna Lions Club and our community has been invaluable. Lion Eugene has received many awards during his years of service including the Melvin Jones Fellowship, the highest honor bestowed to a club member.
Lion Eugene will be missed by all his fellow Lions Club members. The Smyrna Lions would like to send their condolences to Mrs. Frances Odom at the loss of her loving husband and valued member of the Smyrna Lions Club.
